We are a U.S.-based
aerospace manufacturing organization
specializing in producing precision components for the aerospace and defense industry. We operate as a build-to-print manufacturer, delivering high-quality parts that meet strict customer specifications for leading aerospace OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.
We are seeking a hands-on Quality leader to strengthen our compliance, improve production quality systems, and lead a growing quality team in a highly regulated aerospace environment.
Position Overview
The Manufacturing Quality Manager will lead all quality assurance and quality control activities within a production aerospace manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring full compliance with AS9100 standards, customer-specific requirements (including Pratt & Whitney specifications), and internal quality systems.
You will manage a team of quality engineers and inspectors while partnering closely with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to ensure product conformity, reduce defects, and drive continuous improvement.
This is a leadership role requiring both strategic oversight and hands-on involvement in daily quality operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Quality Assurance and Quality Control team (approximately 10 engineers and inspectors)
- Ensure full compliance with
AS9100 / AS9102 standards
and aerospace customer requirements
- Interpret and enforce
Pratt & Whitney and other OEM flowdown specifications
- Oversee MRB (Material Review Board) activities and disposition of non-conforming materials
- Drive root cause analysis (8D methodology) and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
- Lead internal, customer, and third-party audits (AS9100, NADCAP exposure preferred)
- Monitor and improve key quality metrics (scrap, rework, FPY, cost of quality)
- Collaborate with production and engineering to resolve quality issues in real time
- Ensure robust documentation, traceability, and quality system integrity
- Support supplier quality initiatives and vendor corrective actions as needed
- Develop and mentor quality team members to strengthen organizational capability
Required Qualifications
- 7–15+ years of experience in aerospace manufacturing quality
- Strong working knowledge of AS9100 and AS9102 requirements
- Experience working with or supporting Pratt & Whitney, GE, Rolls-Royce, or equivalent aerospace OEMs
- Proven leadership experience managing quality teams (inspectors and/or engineers)
- Strong background in:
- MRB / NCR management
- Root cause analysis (8D, fishbone, etc.)
- CAPA systems and audit readiness
- Experience in aerospace or highly regulated precision manufacturing environments
- Ability to read and interpret aerospace engineering drawings and specifications
Preferred Qualifications
- NADCAP audit exposure or certification experience
- Experience in Tier 1 or Tier 2 aerospace suppliers
- Familiarity with ERP/QMS systems (SAP, Oracle, Plex, etc.)
- Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification
- Experience supporting both machining and assembly-based aerospace production
