Quality Inspector – Aerospace

Pay: $27.00–$32.25 per hour
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Quality Inspector to join an established aerospace manufacturing company in Westfield, MA. This position will inspect complex, high-precision, flight-critical aerospace components to ensure they meet strict customer, engineering, and quality requirements.
The ideal candidate will have strong manufacturing inspection experience, excellent attention to detail, and experience using precision measuring equipment and interpreting engineering drawings. Aerospace inspection experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections of complex aerospace and flight-critical components.
- Inspect parts according to customer specifications, engineering drawings, and manufacturing requirements.
- Use precision inspection equipment including micrometers, calipers, indicators, gage blocks, thread gages, and go/no-go gages.
- Perform receiving inspections of raw materials and components from outside processes.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, operation sheets, and work instructions.
- Verify critical dimensions and tolerances using appropriate inspection methods and equipment.
- Enter inspection results and documentation into the company's ERP system.
- Identify nonconforming material and prepare Nonconformance Reports (NCRs).
- Apply GD&T principles when inspecting complex aerospace components.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation.
- Work closely with production and other departments to identify and resolve quality issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow 6S standards.
- Follow all aerospace quality, safety, and PPE requirements.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical school preferred.
- 5+ years of manufacturing inspection experience.
- Aerospace inspection experience strongly preferred.
- Experience inspecting complex or high-precision components preferred.
- Strong understanding of GD&T.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation.
- Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
- Experience with ERP systems and electronic inspection documentation.
- Ability to write NCRs and properly document quality issues.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- DQR/customer inspection experience preferred.

- Borescopes
- Surface profilometers
- Gage blocks
- Thread gages
- Go/no-go gages
Work Environment
Work is performed in a precision aerospace manufacturing environment where quality and accuracy are critical. The facility includes operating machinery and may involve exposure to machine noise, moving equipment, sharp metal edges, oil, cutting fluids, dust, mist, fumes, and forklift traffic.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to push, pull, reach overhead, bend, climb stairs, and sit as needed.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and customer documentation with or without corrective lenses.
- Ability to pass an annual eye examination.
