• The Quality Assurance (QA) Inspector is responsible for performing in-process, final, and incoming inspections of precision sheet metal components, assemblies, and raw materials to ensure they meet customer specifications, engineering drawings, and AS9100 quality standards. The QA Inspector plays a key role in identifying non-conformances, supporting continuous improvement efforts, and maintaining accurate quality records. This role works closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure parts are built right the first time.
Key Responsibilities
o Perform in-process, final, and receiving inspections on sheet metal parts and assemblies using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision tools.
o Verify dimensional, visual, and cosmetic requirements against engineering drawings and specifications.
o Use calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators, and other manual tools for dimensional verification.
o Conduct visual inspections to verify cosmetic requirements, edge conditions, and proper labeling/marking.
o Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspections in accordance with work instructions and control plans.
o Perform first article inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
o Accurately document inspection results and maintain records in accordance with AS9100 requirements.
o Complete and review inspection checklists, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and related quality documentation.
o Assist in the review of certifications, material test reports, and supplier documentation for compliance.
o Identify and report non-conforming materials or processes.
o Tag and isolate non-conforming parts and assist in initiating NCRs or rework instructions.
o Communicate quality issues with production and engineering teams for resolution.
o Collaborate with production staff to ensure quality requirements are understood and followed.
o Provide feedback to help prevent recurring issues and support root cause analysis.
o Support audits and internal quality system reviews as required.
o Follow all safety policies and wear appropriate PPE.
o Maintain a clean, organized, and safe inspection area.
o Report any safety concerns or equipment issues immediately.
Qualifications
o High school diploma or GED required.
o 2+ years of experience in quality inspection, preferably in a precision sheet metal or aerospace environment.
o Familiarity with AS9100 and AS9102 standards preferred.
o Proficient in using precision measuring tools and interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T.
o Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
o Ability to follow procedures and work independently or as part of a team.
o Basic computer skills for documentation and ERP system entry.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, metal components and inspection tools.
Requires standing for extended periods, frequent hand movements, visual inspection, and lifting up to 30 lbs
Safety protocols, including the use of PPT, must be always followed.
Schedule- Hours: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, Monday – Friday (schedule adjustments as needed to meet demand)
Compensation- Hourly Range: $20-25 per hour
