Job Title: CNC Machinist – 5-Axis Milling (2nd Shift | Overhaul & Repair)

Pay Range: $30.00 – $40.00/hour (based on experience)

Shift Differential: 10% premium for 2nd shift

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join the Overhaul & Repair Division of a well-established aerospace manufacturer in Berlin, CT. This direct-hire role focuses on the precision machining and refurbishment of complex turbine components using advanced 5-axis CNC milling equipment (DMG, Mazak, and Okuma). Shift Schedule

2nd Shift: Monday–Friday | 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM (+10% shift premium)

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate 5-axis CNC milling machines to machine and repair aerospace components
• Load tooling, establish work offsets, and make precise adjustments to meet tight tolerances
• Perform in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools
• Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical work instructions
• Document setups, tooling configurations, and production activity accurately
• Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to troubleshoot and improve repair processes
• Perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure machine performance
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of CNC milling experience, preferably in aerospace or high-precision manufacturing
• Experience operating 5-axis CNC mills
• Strong understanding of tight-tolerance machining and inspection methods
• Ability to interpret complex blueprints and GD&T
• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certifications preferred

Preferred Skills

• Experience with CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam
• Background operating machines with Fanuc controls
• Familiarity with overhaul/repair machining processes
• Exposure to lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives
• Proven ability to optimize cycle times and machining efficiency
