Job Overview:

Aerospace Estimator

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Aerospace Estimator to prepare accurate time, cost, labor, and vendor estimates for precision metal components. This position will analyze customer blueprints, specifications, and manufacturing documentation while developing and maintaining manufacturing routings and Bills of Materials for aerospace production.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of machining processes, outside processing, and aerospace manufacturing requirements, along with the ability to manage multiple RFQs and changing priorities in a fast-paced production environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Aerospace estimating experience is required.
  • Ability to develop process templates and manufacturing processes for precision components.
  • Knowledge of outside processing, including welding, plating, heat treating, coatings, and other secondary operations.
  • Experience estimating and itemizing setup costs, machining times, labor requirements, and vendor pricing.
  • Strong understanding of machine capabilities and associated manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret customer blueprints, specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CAD software.
  • Self-directed, detail-oriented, and well organized.
  • Process Engineering experience is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain a strong safety culture while following all required PPE and safety procedures.
  • Review and interpret Requests for Quote (RFQs), blueprints, specifications, and other technical documentation.
  • Analyze manufacturing requirements to determine labor, material, machining, setup, and outside processing costs.
  • Research and obtain pricing and lead times from outside vendors.
  • Develop detailed and accurate quote packages for internal review and approval.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing routings and Bills of Materials.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to determine the most efficient production processes.
  • Ensure estimates are accurate, competitive, and aligned with customer requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in a manufacturing/production environment with exposure to high noise levels from operating machinery.
  • Potential exposure to moving equipment, sharp machine components, metal edges, oils, cutting fluids, fumes, dust, and mist.
  • May work around forklifts and other industrial equipment.
  • Position may require travel between nearby manufacturing facilities as business needs dictate.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and other applicable customer documentation with or without corrective lenses.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds as required.
  • Ability to push, pull, reach overhead, stand, walk, climb stairs, bend, and sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to safely navigate an active manufacturing environment.
