Job Overview:

Position Summary

The Aerospace Estimator is responsible for reviewing customer blueprints, specifications, and technical documentation to develop accurate labor, material, machining, and production cost estimates for hard metal aerospace components. This position also creates and maintains manufacturing routings and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to support production planning and quoting activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and acknowledge incoming Requests for Quote (RFQs).
  • Interpret customer blueprints, specifications, manufacturing processes, and technical documentation.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, machining, outside services, and production requirements.
  • Gather pricing, lead-time information, and technical details from vendors and outside service providers.
  • Create complete quote packages for internal review, approval, and customer submission.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing routings and Bills of Materials for aerospace components.
  • Work closely with production, engineering, purchasing, quality, and customer service teams to ensure estimates are accurate and achievable.
  • Maintain organized documentation related to estimates, RFQs, routings, and BOMs.
  • Follow all safety policies, PPE requirements, and established safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 6S standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Prior aerospace estimating experience is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret customer blueprints, specifications, and manufacturing process documentation.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing routings, Bills of Materials, estimating procedures, and production processes.
  • Familiarity with machining capabilities, hard metal materials, and related manufacturing processes.
  • Process engineering experience is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet customer-driven deadlines.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-directed.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and standard computer applications.

Working Conditions

This position is based in a production environment and may involve exposure to high noise levels, moving machinery, sharp metal components, forklifts, fumes, dust, mist, oil, and cutting fluids. Employees may be required to travel between the Southwick and Westfield facilities as needed.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to read customer documentation with or without corrective lenses.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds as needed.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit for extended periods, bend, reach overhead, push, pull, and climb stairs as required.
