Filger Manufacturing has produced precision components for aerospace, medical, and space programs for more than 70 years. We're hiring an experienced CNC Lathe Setup Machinist to independently set up and operate Kia and Hardinge turning centers using Fanuc controls.
This is a hands-on role producing tight-tolerance aerospace components from first article through the end of the production run. The shift starts at 6:00 a.m., with overtime available based on workload.
What you'll do
- Independently set up and operate CNC lathes using Fanuc controls
- Produce precision aerospace components to tolerances as tight as +/- .0002
- Select the proper tooling, fixtures, and materials for each job
- Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and job travelers
- Complete first articles with the shop foreman
- Make offsets and minor program changes as needed
- Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, CMM equipment, gauges, and eye loupes
- Troubleshoot machining and quality issues
- Maintain production goals without compromising quality
- Keep machines and work areas clean and organized
What we're looking for
- At least 5 years of experience independently setting up and operating CNC lathes
- Strong experience with Fanuc controls
- Experience producing tight-tolerance aerospace or similarly precise components
- Ability to take a job from setup and first article through production
- Strong blueprint-reading and precision-measurement skills
- Ability to identify and correct setup, tooling, offset, and quality issues
- Ability to work independently while communicating well with the team
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work safely in a machine-shop environment
- Ability to pass a basic background check and employment-reference review
