Pay Range: $26.10 – $33/hour
We are seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist to join our growing aerospace manufacturing team in Southwick, MA. This position is responsible for setting up and operating CNC lathes, performing in-process and final inspections, adjusting tooling and offsets, and producing high-precision components that meet customer specifications and quality standards.
The ideal candidate will have strong CNC lathe setup and machining experience, a solid understanding of precision manufacturing practices, and the ability to work independently in a production environment.
Minimum 3 years of CNC lathe machining experience
Aerospace manufacturing experience preferred
High School Diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training is a plus
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and operation sheets
Experience using precision measuring equipment, including:
Micrometers
Calipers
Indicators
Preset gauges
Experience setting tooling, adjusting offsets, and making machine corrections
Ability to set up boring jaws and install face plates with fixtures
Experience operating multiple CNC machines performing similar operations
Proven ability to machine complex components while maintaining tight tolerances
Set up and operate CNC lathes to manufacture precision aerospace components
Read and follow blueprints, work instructions, and process documentation
Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections
Adjust tooling, offsets, and machine parameters as required
Verify dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and overall part quality
Maintain compliance with AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality standards, documentation, and traceability requirements
Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and production issues and communicate concerns as needed
Monitor tool life and replace tooling to maintain efficient production
Accurately complete production and inspection records
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Follow all company safety policies, PPE requirements, and 6S procedures
Operate multiple machines when production demands require
Perform routine machine and workstation maintenance
This position is located within a manufacturing facility and may involve:
Exposure to elevated noise levels from operating equipment
Contact with cutting fluids, metal chips, dust, fumes, and airborne mist
Working around forklifts and moving production equipment
Exposure to sharp metal edges and machine components
Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and climb stairs throughout the workday
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds as needed
Ability to read customer drawings and documentation with or without corrective lenses
