We are looking for an experienced CMM Programmer to join a precision manufacturing team in Glastonbury, CT. This position will focus on developing, validating, and maintaining CMM inspection programs for aerospace and precision-machined components.
The CMM Programmer will work closely with Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Operations to ensure parts meet customer specifications, engineering requirements, and quality standards.
Develop, validate, document, and maintain CMM inspection programs using PC-DMIS
Create inspection programs using engineering drawings, CAD models, and customer specifications
Perform both offline and online CMM programming
Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CMM equipment
Perform first article, in-process, receiving, and final inspections
Support AS9102 First Article Inspection activities and documentation
Verify CMM program accuracy against engineering requirements
Determine appropriate inspection methods, measurement strategies, and sampling plans
Use precision inspection equipment including micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gages, bore gages, optical comparators, and other measurement tools
Investigate dimensional issues and assist with root cause and corrective action activities
Prepare and maintain inspection reports, records, control plans, and other quality documentation
Work with Manufacturing and Engineering to improve inspection processes and methods
Provide technical guidance to CMM operators and quality inspectors
High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or vocational training preferred
3+ years of CMM programming experience in a manufacturing environment
Hands-on experience programming and operating CMM equipment using PC-DMIS
Strong understanding of GD&T and ASME Y14.5
Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and CAD models
Experience inspecting close-tolerance machined components and assemblies
Working knowledge of SPC and dimensional data analysis
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality documentation systems
Experience in aerospace, defense, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment
Familiarity with AS9100 and ISO 9001
Knowledge of AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements
Experience with SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, Creo, or similar CAD software
GD&T or quality-related certification
ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT), Certified Quality Inspector (CQI), or similar certification
