Job Summary:

Raytheon Missiles & Defense is looking for an experienced senior engineer to serve as the Advanced Technology (AT) Mission Area Technology Director (TD) at one of our Tucson locations. The candidate will report directly to the RMD Technology Director and is accountable for technical leadership and new concept development for Advanced Programs in the AT Mission Area.

Additionally, the AT Mission Area Technology Director is one of the senior Engineering representatives in this location area and a senior leader in the Technology/Engineering organization.

In this role, you are accountable for advising the RMD Technology Director on key technical discriminators and solving the most challenging and complex customer missions. You will be responsible for working with MA PAD leaders, Chief Engineers, Finance and R&C Leaders to develop MA Product Roadmaps, identify gaps in those roadmaps and make CRAD pursuit and investment recommendations Interface with Mission Area and Program Chief. You will work directly with Capture teams to develop / review capture strategies and technical strategies / baselines for those potential new programs. You will interface closely with other MA TDs and the RMD TD to ensure balanced and optimized technology investments across AT and RMD.

The role will also support business strategy and other strategic initiatives that drive new opportunities within their strategic mission area. This role includes providing strategic direction on AT MA and program-level research and development activities and developing a strong technical understanding of the products across the AT and broader RMD portfolio. The individual in this role will be one of the primary technical voices to the AT Customer base, including DoD Services and supporting Lab / FFRDC organizations.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Support AT MA leadership to develop AT Product Roadmaps
  • Develop AT Technology Roadmaps and support development of RMD Technology Roadmap
  • Oversee development of technical discriminators and tech baselines for Strategic AT Captures & Programs
  • Develop detailed investment recommendations for AT MA and support integration of these investments into the RMD R&D Investment Portfolio
  • Provide technical leadership on AT Captures / Programs in collaboration with MA and Program CEs
  • The AT TD and CE are the primary technical voice to the customer base

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics and 14 years of prior relevant experience OR and Advanced degree and 12 years of relevant experience
  • Experienced as an Engineering Leader of large multi-disciplinary teams
  • Expertise in concept development, design, development, production, system integration, verification, qualification and certification
  • Proposal development and capture experience
  • Leadership experience in live flight tests
  • An active and in-scope Secret US security clearance

Qualifications We Value:

  • Advanced degree preferred
  • Strong network with TDs / CEs across the business, customer community and aerospace industry
  • Professional experience in aerospace/defense industry with emphasis on sensors and effectors, their design, integration and verification
  • Experienced leader of an integrated product teams in HW, SW, Systems Engineering or Production – understanding of the full life cycle of a program
  • Experience managing multiple priorities in a complex environment
  • Ability to define and drive new concept development on a Tech Development or EMD Program
