We are currently seeking an Advanced Mechanical Designer to partner with our mechanical engineering team to design and develop practical designs from high level concepts. Specific areas of responsibility will include but not be limited to the following:
In this role you will:
Utilize strong modeling and drafting skills in order to understand and apply accepted drafting standards as well as demonstrated competence in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. Demonstrated excellence in the design and detailing of heavy machinery parts, mechanical assemblies, weldments, and industrial structures.
Required Experience:
- Selection of mechanical hardware and structural components such as fasteners, pins, inserts, keys, and raw stock and standard structural shapes.
- Design and arrangement of mechanical power transmission systems, heavy weldments and formed components, and bolted joint design.
- Well versed in the application and limitations of machine shop practices such as but not limited to cutting, turning, milling, grinding, boring, broaching, as well as field erection and alignment methods.
- Design for manufacturability and maintainability.
Additional Qualifications:
- Five plus years of experience using Solidworks required.
- Five plus years of experience drafting, designing, and detailing heavy machinery parts, mechanical assemblies, weldments, and industrial structures.
- Strong Experience with standardized document control processes.
- Experience with a PDM system required; Solidworks Enterprise PDM desired.
- Experience with generation and maintenance of BOMS.
- Expert drafting skills with high attention to detail and accuracy required.
- ANSI Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and AWS welding symbols.
- Detailed material callouts.
- Use of ASME Y14.1 and/or Mil-Std-100 engineering drawing practices.
- Familiarity with AISC Steel Construction Manual structural detailing is a plus.
- Field and manufacturing experience is a plus.
- Associates or equivalent degree in Engineering and/or CAD is a plus.
- Knowledge of the use and selection of various optical, proximity, thru-beam, and other types of sensors is a plus.
- Experience with SAP ERP system will be considered as a bonus
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and multi-task.
- Possess excellent organizational and planning skills
- Self-motivated and positive attitude.
- Able to bend, reach and occasionally lift 50 pounds unassisted.
- Ability to travel occasionally up to five percent.
