Using their inquisitiveness, tenacity, and willingness to learn, the Advanced Analytics Data Engineer will work directly with the Advanced Analytics team to solve data science problems. They will be involved in helping build complex machine learning models as well as engineering the solution into the business process. This person will have the ability to follow the team's technical direction by writing high quality code and following modern design principles.
This Data Engineer must have the ability to build solutions in many different environments ranging from quick and dirty POC’s to robust and scalable production ready systems. They have the ability to understand complex architecture and engineering designs and the skill to help implement them. A successful candidate will be equally good at understanding/solving business problems as well as being able to engineer top notch technical solutions.
This position will be a hybrid based out of GFS’ brand new building in Atlantic Station.
Essential Functions:
- Provides expertise and guidance in defining the technical strategy and direction for the Data Platform environment at GFS, including tools, techniques, and processes as it relates to advanced analytics.
- Provides guidance to the team leader to determine priority and effort for features.
- Mentor to other team members in the appropriate use and application of new and existing tools and processes.
- Design and build technology solutions across multiple initiatives at the same time.
- Collaborate with others inside and outside of IT to rapidly architect, design, prototype, and implement technical architectures to deliver insightful solutions.
- Translate business analytics problems into technical solutions that yield actionable recommendations across multiple, diverse domains.
- Helps build a high-performing team focused on results and relationships within and outside of the team.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Leading candidates will have:
- Has worked directly with Data Scientists and Data Science projects in the past.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Advanced Analytics, Statistics, or related field.
- At least 8 years of experience in technical design, development, and delivery of data engineering technical solutions.
- Experience working directly with business SME’s to understand and present solutions to their day to day problems.
- Highly experienced with one or many cloud computing providers (e.g. GCP, AWS, Azure).
- Highly experienced in modern data engineering principles and technologies including Machine Learning.
- Expert in modern devops practices to deliver code quickly with a high degree of confidence and quality
- Business Influence - Ability to present and explain technical and complicated information in an easy to understand format, both verbally and in writing.
- Highly experienced in working with data visualization tools (Microstrategy, PowerBI, Looker, Tableau, etc…).
- Knowledge of data governance, expectations and leading practices
- Business Judgment: High degree of ingenuity, creativity, and innovation to solve unique and complex business challenges; evaluate alternative solutions, considering costs and benefits.
- Preferred languages include but are not limited to Python and Terraform.
