About Us: Founded by legendary aircraft designer Burt Rutan in 1982, Scaled Composites is an aerospace company continually working to push boundaries, prove out ideas, and influence the future. We are a rapid prototyping and manufacturing facility, designing, building, and testing proof-of-concept and prototype vehicles. We have flown an average of one new aircraft type per year over our 40 year history such as Proteus, GlobalFlyer, SpaceShipOne, Model 401, and Stratolaunch.

About You: The Administrative Assistant provides general administrative support and requires the ability to understand and perform a variety of duties as assigned. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint and MS Outlook) is required, as well as the ability to learn new programs and work with various office equipment. The hired candidate will rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform a variety of tasks for internal and external customers and assist other departments and/or other members of Management with day-to-day operations.

Duties and Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • General office support, including, but not limited to making copies, sending faxes, scanning, coordinate internal and external meetings, proofread and format documents, prepare slides for presentations, printing and binding meeting materials, etc. 
  • Create and maintain project documentation (i.e. reports and presentations)
  • Assist with the organization of files
  • Act as a liaison between support groups (e.g. facilitate Maintenance and IT requests)
  • Calendar management for multiple members of Management
  • Support Flight Operations and/or the Engineering Department; including all members and their individual needs
  • Support the Communications Specialist in social media and website management
  • Responsible POC for managing Scaled tours and visitors as required
  • Account management for various equipment and subscriptions
  • Maintaining an organized work area and department which includes handling various forms of media, ensuring all documentation is in its appropriate place, and cleaning common areas.

  • Proficiency in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Task oriented 
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Goal oriented, self-starter
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to exercise good judgment with minimal oversight
  • Must be able to work well with a wide variety of personalities across all departments
  • Ability to prioritize a high volume of tasking and operate in a “fire and forget” atmosphere – organizational skills and efficient use of time are essential
  • Ability to exercise good judgement and critical thinking with minimal oversight
  • Able to learn new programs and work with a variety of office equipment.
  • Demonstrated capability organizing a complex schedule and varied priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to include a follow up/status update mindset and excellent active listening skills

Desired Qualifications:

  • Degree or certification beyond high school diploma/GED
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro and/or Adobe Suite
  • Experience in a fast paced environment

Essential Job Functions:

  • Requires mobility and the ability to bend and reach
  • Move materials weighing up to 20 pounds on a regular basis such as files, books, office equipment, etc.
  • May infrequently require moving materials weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity and coordination are required (e.g., to operate computer keyboard)
  • Vision at close distances and the ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to write for extended periods of time
