Job Description:

SSR Mining’s Marigold Mine, located near Battle Mountain, Nevada, is looking for an Administration/Finance Manager to join our team! In production since 1989, Marigold is a large run-of-mine heap leach operation with several open pits, waste rock stockpiles, leach pads, a carbon absorption facility, and a carbon processing and gold refining facility. General Objectives:

Reporting to the General Manager and as a key member of the Marigold Leadership Team, the Administration/Finance Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating and directing the Accounting, Warehouse and Procurement, Payroll and IT functional areas for the mine by providing cross-functional leadership to the various team members, including setting KPIs, performance management, and mentoring and coaching, in achievement of the goals and objectives of financial activities (in accordance with corporate strategies and policies) and to ensure compliance by local staff.

Key Areas of Responsibilities & Duties:

The key responsibilities of the Administration/Finance Manager include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintain communication with Managers regarding accounting function and changes that may impact their work.

  • Work closely with Accounting, IT and Warehouse to perform essential functions .

  • Provide quality control of financial reports. Review monthly statements and analyze variances.

  • Ensures compliance with US GAAP and internal accounting policies and procedures, leading to audit-ready financials.

  • Review, implement and monitor financial controls per Sarbanes Oxley requirements.

  • Coordinate and facilitate audits with internal and external auditors.

  • Respond to financial and general task order inquiries by gathering, analyzing, summarizing, and interpreting data.

  • Ensure all data entry documents received are verified and entered in the accounting system based on current data entry procedures and timelines.

  • Provide input and support to the development and implementation of new initiatives to improve the accounting processes.

  • Ensure proper operations of communication systems, IT, security, and facilities space and systems by identifying needs; evaluating options; and communicating with service providers, ensuring required maintenance, repair and upgrades, as needed.

  • Ensure best practice methods are maintained and benchmarked against other operations.

  • Participate as a member of the Marigold Site Leadership Team to develop strategic organizational initiatives for the improvement of site-wide performance objectives.

  • Provide safety and environmental leadership by always setting the example, inspiring our safety vision, challenging the processes, empowering the workforce, and celebrating our successes.

  • Develop and implement annual financial operating and capital budgets and forecasts that ensure compliance with organizational and strategic expenditure requirements.

  • Develop and maintain positive and effective professional working relationships with vendors and co-workers.

  • Provide balanced strategic leadership both short term, and long term through 12 to 18 months with strategic planning initiatives.

  • Lead staff members in daily operations by providing administrative and technical direction in accordance to Marigold policy and procedure to achieve safe, efficient, and effective results.

  • Hold self/direct reports and department members accountable to safe and productive work practices as outlined within Marigold guidelines and policies.

  • Attract and grow a strong team aligned to deliver the site strategy.

  • Set team priorities in the context of the site and department goals to best utilize the skills of the team

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Direct leadership of a team of multi-discipline professionals.

  • Strong understanding of accounting/financial procedures and administration and office management.

  • Knowledge of basic economic, budgeting, and accounting principles, compliance and practices.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Solomon financial reporting system preferred.

  • Experience implementing ERP systems preferred.

  • Experience leading major change initiatives an asset.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business, majoring in Accounting and Finance and a professional accounting designation preferred.

  • 15 – 20 years related accounting and general office experience required, including both cost and financial accounting disciplines within a mining environment.
