Bose is seeking an Acoustical Engineer to join the Automotive Product Engineering team who shares this same passion and drive. In this position, you will have the opportunity to engage with a wide variety of engineering functions over the full product development lifecycle. From early concept performance target creation with product planning to post production change acoustic approval with transducer design, this role provides an opportunity to develop expertise in several areas that are essential to the Bose automotive business. Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate closely with technical leadership in product planning, component design, research, and systems engineering
  • Review new OEM specifications with acoustic requirements (design, validation, EOL test). Participate and/or lead customer facing negotiations
  • Support and/or lead the development of next generation acoustic measurement equipment, toolset, and processes
  • Serve as an SME for acoustic measurement best practices within automotive and align with technical leads in other engineering organizations (consumer, production test, etc…). Implement consistency with both internal and external labs
  • Run Framingham based component listening evaluations. Build listening evaluation standards and implement with Global Bose automotive teams
  • Participate and/or lead competitive assessment activities (component selection, report generation, etc…)
  • Share acoustic approval responsibility with other technical leads (will depend on project type, bandwidth, and technical capability)
  • Support/influence the creation new transducer RFQ targets and requirements for 3rd party component certification
  • Maintain a deep connection to systems engineering community and be able to represent what parameters are meaningful to system level performance across all customer teams
  • Understand the fundamentals of how acoustic assemblies and components are typically leveraged in-vehicle (transducer, bass box, externally ducted woofers, etc...)
  • Support application development in understanding, negotiating and addressing customer requests and requirements for transducer/assembly acoustic performance

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or related engineering fields
  • 5+ years of product development experience in electronics or audio systems
  • Component design expertise is a plus (transducer and/or acoustic enclosures)
  • Expertise in acoustic measurement systems with experience in at least one industry standard (ex: Klippel, AP, Etani, etc…)
  • Software tool proficiency:
    • MATLAB (data manipulation)
    • Acoustic simulation (Ex: COMSOL, Sim Speaker, etc…)
    • Basic CAD experience is a plus
  • Ability to work independently
  • System design approach and ability to distill requirements to the component level
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Customer facing experience is a plus
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically/internationally
