Position Summary
The Accounts Receivable and Trade Spend Analyst is responsible for managing customer deductions, reconciling trade promotions, and supporting cash application activities. This role provides analytical support to Sales, Customer Service, and Finance teams to ensure accurate tracking of trade programs and timely resolution of receivable discrepancies. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Monitor and reconcile customer accounts to ensure timely payment.
- Collaborate with customers and internal departments to resolve invoice discrepancies and aged receivables.
- Support month-end close by preparing AR aging reports and journal entries.
- Daily application of payments to the ERP.
- Reporting and resolution of claims within individual customer portals.
-Daily closing, review, and sending of invoices via the ERP.
Trade Spend & Deductions
- Monitor and process our deductions mailbox
- Analyze and validate trade promotion deductions (MDFs, off-invoice deals, chargebacks, etc.).
- Coordinate with Sales and Brokers to ensure trade claims are legitimate and supported.
- Maintain a deduction log and track resolution status in alignment with internal SLAs.
- Support accrual processes for trade spending by customer and program.
Reporting & Analysis
- Generate and analyze reports related to AR performance, deduction trends, and trade spend utilization.
- Identify root causes of recurring deductions and propose process improvements.
- Assist in developing dashboards to provide visibility to outstanding trade balances and ROI on promotions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2–4 years of experience in AR, deductions, or trade spend analysis, ideally in the CPG or food manufacturing industry.
- Experience with ERP systems (Aspen Systems Canopy a plus) and Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas).
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and drive resolution across departments.
Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with customer portals and systems (e.g., iTrade, SPS Commerce).
- Experience supporting Foodservice, Retail, and/or National Account customers.
- Working knowledge of trade promotion processes and financial controls
