Job Summary

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for performing regulatory filings and account reconciliations, including bank and petty cash accounts.

Essential Job Duties

1. Performs reconciliations of accounts to ensure their accuracy.
2. Researches and resolves issues affecting various accounts.
3. Maintains detailed records and work papers.
4. Provides clerical and administrative support to accounting staff, as requested.
5. Analyzes and prepares tax reports.
6. Handles regulatory filings for sales/use tax, license renewal, corporate filings, etc.

Additional Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists with monthly closing.
• Assists with any other duties or projects as assigned.

Expected Hours of Work

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration preferred.
• One or more years of Accounting/Finance experience required.
• Knowledge of accounting standards and practices.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills required.
• Highly-organized, detail and goal-oriented, with ability to work under deadlines.
• Excellent critical thinking, data analysis and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient computer skills including an intermediate knowledge in Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook, Excel, and Word required; ERP system experience preferred.
• Proficient skills in using general office equipment including desktop, telephone, printer, copier, fax, scanner, etc.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feels objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms, frequent sitting for long periods is standard.   The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.  May have occasional stooping, bending or kneeling.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus (correctable).  Hearing abilities include the ability to hear clearly while working in person or on the telephone (correctable).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee works primarily indoors with periods of infrequent intrastate travel up to 10%.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with alternating periods of moderate to high stress.
