Summary of the Position:

We are expanding our Accounting Operations function and are seeking an experienced manager to support global employee Travel and Expenses (“T&E”) and corporate card programs. The role will be responsible for administering the corporate card program and T&E system, ensures expenses are timely captured and processed, and helps implement new processes required to scale with the Company’s commercial and global growth. The role reports to the Accounting Director and will oversee at least one direct report. The role requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and strong interpersonal, leadership and problem resolution skills.

This position is located in Gaithersburg, MD.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage and administer the Company’s corporate credit card program, ensuring compliance with policies, timely execution of expense reporting, and reconciliation to card statements
  • Assist in the design and transition of corporate purchasing cards
  • Manage relationships with the Company’s travel management company, corporate card provider, employees, executives, and other travel partners; serve as the Travel SME
  • Manage the T&E Concur system; ensure the accuracy of user and cost center data, monitor, and resolve exceptions with credit card feeds and SAP transmittals
  • Develop and manage an expense report audit program
  • Support business strategies and key initiatives for global expansion, operations, travel program enhancements, compliance and risk assessments, and automation solutions
  • Assist in preparation of related month end close schedules, entries, and reconciliations; provide reporting and spend analysis
  • Support external audit and SOX control requests, maintain internal controls and compliance

Minimum Requirements:

  • 8+ years related experience, including at least 3 years managing teams or processes
  • Experience working in T&E systems
  • Biotech or pharmaceutical industry experience a strong plus
  • B.S. degree in Accounting or CPA preferred, demonstrated pattern of career progression required
  • Established written and verbal ability to communicate clearly with stakeholders and individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Understands the importance of being a support service function and is effective at building stakeholder relationships
  • Proficiency with Accounting software, including implementation projects, knowledge of SAP and Concur a plus
  • Strong leadership with ability to coach and develop team members
  • Proactive, makes independent assessments and presents possible solutions timely
  • Acts with integrity, understands internal controls within Accounting Operations
  • Must be proficient in MS Excel and have a working knowledge of other MS Office Software
