Job Overview:

Job Summary:

Perform a variety of accounting  and finance functions for the Domestic and microSource Fertilizer divisions including daily, weekly, and monthly analysis and financial reporting.  

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for monthly external and internal financial reporting.
  • Ensure financial statement results are prepared in accordance with GAAP.
  • Research, author, and help enforce technical accounting policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for SAP monthly closing process, as well as period end analytical review procedures.
  • Assist with external and internal audits as needed, as well as audits from State taxing authorities.
  • Assist with financial analysis and budget reviews – weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  • Assist with SAP general ledger configuration as needed for financial reporting.
  • Help develop and enforce accounting policies and procedures for fertilizer terminals.
  • Ensure internal control policies and procedures are adhered to by the organization.
  • Perform quarterly inventory analysis of company financial accounting reserves.
  • Assist with preparation of weekly profit estimates as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual operating expense and capital plan budgets as needed.
  • Lead projects to automate accounting back-office functions such as invoice scanning/data capture.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • Experience with a large CPA audit firm preferred.
  • Financial reporting experience preferred.
  • Must have good working knowledge of US GAAP. IFRS experience helpful.
  • Advanced Excel computer skills required. Ability to write macros helpful.
  • Experience in writing reports using an ERP business analytics tool helpful.
  • Experience with SAP, SAP ByDesign, Oracle or other ERP preferred. Essbase experience also a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand complex financial data and consolidate into meaningful information in simplified formats.
  • Strong work ethic, dependable, comfortable meeting deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills – verbal and written.
  • CPA required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance, MBA preferred.
  • International experience and/or Spanish fluency helpful with working with international locations.
