Position Summary

The Account Project Manager will serve as the lead liaison between internal account managers, retail clients (brands, retailers), and internal support teams (design, production management, engineering) to successfully plan, execute, and deliver in-store / retail environment projects (fixtures, displays, signage, merchandising, store remodels, rollouts). This role requires strong client relationship skills, project management discipline, and a deep understanding of how retail environments function.


Key Responsibilities / Duties

Client & Account Management

  • Act as primary point of contact with assigned account managers, client accounts, understanding their business goals and ensuring alignment with project deliverables.
  • Hold regular status meetings and reviews with account managers, client stakeholders to report on progress, risks, budget, and milestones (e.g. weekly or biweekly).
    • Incudes owning kick off meetings, release to engineering, and status update meeting as necessary 
  • Monitor client satisfaction and anticipate needs / changes, bringing opportunities for up-sell, efficiency improvements, or new services.
  • Collaborate with internal leadership (e.g. creative, production project management,engineering) to maintain account profitability and delivery performance.

Project Planning & Execution

  • Develop detailed project plans (workback schedules, milestones, dependencies) from concept through installation/rollout.
  • Coordinate internal resources, including designers, engineers, production project managers, and install production manages
  • Manage scope changes and ensure change control procedures are followed.
  • Track budgets, cost estimates, and financial performance, ensuring projects stay within approved margins.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Produce and distribute status reports (milestones, risks, changes, financials) to internal and client stakeholders.
  • Maintain all project documentation (contracts, change orders, purchase orders, drawings, approvals, close-out) in a centralized system.
  • Conduct post-project reviews, capturing lessons learned, performance metrics, and process improvements.

Cross-Functional Coordination & Process Improvement

  • Work collaboratively with design, engineering, production project management, and installation project management to keep cross-functional alignment.
  • Identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies in workflows and propose process improvements or automation opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, safety standards, quality standards, and brand guidelines.

Risk Management

  • Proactively identify potential risks (schedule delays, material shortages, budget overruns, quality issues) and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor critical path items and reforecast schedules when necessary.
  • Serve as escalation point for issues affecting delivery or client satisfaction.


Qualifications / Skills

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Architecture, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in project management / account management within retail, in-store, or experiential environments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large, multi-site rollouts, fixture/display programs, or retail installations.

Technical & Software Skills

  • Proficiency in project management tools (MS Project, Smartsheet, Asana, Wrike, etc.)
  • Comfortable working with design files, technical drawings, CAD or shop drawings (even if not producing them)
  • Strong Excel skills (budgets, forecasting, cost tracking)
  • Familiarity with procurement/purchasing, logistics, field installation, quality control processes

  • Commercial acumen: understanding margins, budget levers, opportunity to upsell
  • Ability to build credibility with senior stakeholders and vendors


Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with retail execution / in-store installation vendors
  • Exposure to global or multi-market rollout projects
  • Knowledge of merchandising, visual display, retail operations, shopper insights
  • Experience with digital or integrated in-store media (lighting, sensors, digital signage)


Working Conditions

  • Primarily office-based, with occasional field visits / store site visits
  • Travel required (domestic/regional) depending on rollout scope
  • Flexibility to respond to urgent issues or “fire drills” during critical phases
