Description
Using your experience, you will perform duties to set up and operate a number of different computerized numerical controlled machine tools to perform a wide range of turning, drilling and tapping operations on various complex component parts of mechanical shaft seals in a work cell environment in a production mode
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Machinist will be responsible for set-up and operations of special purpose equipment, and numeric control machines and machining centers for fabrication parts that hold to the high-quality machine standards required within company.
• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements.
• Starts and observes machine operation to direct malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls as required.
• Responsible for the selection, alignment, and securing of holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills and lathes.
• Ensure product quality and conformance to engineering specification. Monitor 1st part run at every operation and obtain first part buy off by inspection
• Deburr parts as needed
• Complete necessary paperwork accurately and efficiently using ERP system.
Requirements
• Minimum of two years’ experience operating 5 Axis CNC Machines; Proficiency in setting up 5 Axis machines independently. Siemens 840 D controller experience preferred.
• Candidates with GROB machine experience will be preferred over others.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and/or drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Ability to operate multiple machines simultaneously.
• Use of micron indicators and dial indicators for fixture alignment, troubleshooting and other duties as required.
• Use of spindle probe (Rennishaw) and Tool touch probe
• Ability to setup own tools using heat shrink holders, ER style holders and others as required
• Interface with programming and other teams to achieve first part buyoff on FAI and production runs as well as cycle time improvements.
• Strong attention to detail
• Must be able to use precision measuring instruments to verify the accuracy of your own part. Ability to read calipers, mics and gauges.
• Strong working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
• Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.
• Ability to calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as, speed, feed, coolant flow, depth and angle of cut or enter commands to retrieve input or edit computerized machine control media.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work in team environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as required
• Must be able to work overtime as needed
