5-Axis CNC Programmer / Operator

Position Summary

AMI Aviation Services, LLC is seeking an experienced 5-Axis CNC Programmer/Operator to support aerospace manufacturing operations involving FAA PMA and STC aircraft components.

This position is responsible for programming, setup, operation, and optimization of a Haas 5-axis CNC milling machine used in the production of precision aircraft parts and prototype components.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs for 5-axis machining operations.

  • Develop toolpaths using Fusion 360, Mastercam, SolidCAM, or equivalent CAM software.

  • Interpret CAD models, engineering drawings, and FAA-approved manufacturing data.

  • Set up and operate Haas 5-axis CNC milling equipment.

  • Perform machine setup, prove-outs, and first article validation.

  • Support prototype development, PMA production, and STC-related fabrication activities.

  • Maintain revision control of CNC programs and setup documentation.

  • Collaborate with Engineering and Quality teams to resolve manufacturing challenges.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of 5-axis CNC programming and machining experience.

  • Experience programming and operating Haas 5-axis CNC milling machines.

  • Strong understanding of multi-axis machining strategies.

  • Ability to read aerospace engineering drawings and CAD models.

  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Experience machining aerospace materials including aluminum, stainless steel, and titanium.

  • Ability to hold tight aerospace tolerances with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with FAA-regulated manufacturing environments.

  • Experience supporting PMA, STC, or prototype aircraft component manufacturing.

  • Experience with aerospace quality systems and configuration control.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment

  • Aviation manufacturing and machine shop environment.
