CNC 5-Axis Programmer

Location: San Jose, CA

Pay: $50-$65/hr, based on experience

Overview

TekPro is partnered with a well-established, high-precision contract manufacturer in the San Jose area in finding experienced CNC 5-Axis Programmer to support complex aerospace and defense machining. The company has more than 50 years in business and operates a vertically integrated facility with advanced milling, turning, grinding, Swiss machining, EDM, and secondary capabilities.

This is an excellent opportunity for a strong programmer who enjoys challenging work, tight tolerances, advanced machining, and direct shop-floor involvement.

Responsibilities

• Create, prove out, and optimize CNC programs for complex 5-axis milling applications.
• Develop machining strategies from CAD models, engineering drawings, and GD&T requirements.
• Select tooling, workholding, speeds, feeds, and cutting strategies for quality and efficiency.
• Simulate and verify programs for accuracy, collision avoidance, and efficient toolpaths.
• Support machinists and setup personnel during prove-outs, first articles, and troubleshooting.
• Make program adjustments to improve cycle time, tool life, setup efficiency, and part quality.
• Maintain setup sheets, tooling information, program revisions, and related documentation.
• Work closely with engineering and quality to resolve machining and dimensional issues.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of CNC machining/programming experience, including strong 5-axis milling experience.
• Proficiency with Mastercam or a similar software
• Strong understanding of G-code, GD&T, tooling, workholding, feeds/speeds, and machining fundamentals.
• Ability to independently program complex precision components and support programs on the shop floor.
• Aerospace, defense, medical, or other high-precision manufacturing experience preferred.
