Reports to: Fabrication Foreman
Position Summary: Ensure daily production schedule attainment in cooperation with Production Supervisor. Fabricate and perform utility tasks daily. Train and mentor employees. Enforce department safety and PPE policies.

Responsibilities and Areas of Accountability:
- Know what needs to be completed each day and properly assign projects to fabrication personnel with guidance from Plant Management/Foreman
- Keep proper inventory on hand for items used in fabrication area.
- Inspect all equipment in fabrication area and notify the Supervisor of any problems.
- Maintain a safe work environment according to PDM safety rules, and report any injuries/problems promptly to the Supervisor.
- Make sure that all quality provisions are being followed and continuously trying to improve our products and processes.
· Communicate engineering errors to supervisor to support feedback to engineering department to eliminate recurrence
- Correct safety hazards, poor behavior and unsafe actions immediately
- Provide Feedback on employee evaluations as required
- Address discipline issues with crew members
- Daily 5S compliance
- Review work areas w/Safety Manager
- Ensure self and crew are focused on approaching 100% first past yield
- Supervise crew in a manner that focuses on increasing productivity and lowering material cost while maintaining expected levels of quality.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Management and Communication Skills required
- Blueprint reading/interpretation
- Comprehension of AWS weld callouts
- Interpreting section and projected views of a 2D drawing
- GMAW (MIG) Welding Experience
- Minimum 6+ months on the job experience in flat and horizontal positions
- FCAW (fluxcore) is a plus
- General use of hand and power tools
- Angle grinder, hammers, chisels, pry bars, clamps
- Layout tools
- Tape measure, squares, bevel squares, levels (all within 1/16”)
- Oxy/Fuel Cutting Torch
- Safe operation and ability to cut materials ranging in ¼”-1” in thickness
- Forklift Experience is a plus
- Overhead crane operation is a plus
- Applicants must be able to walk and stand on feet for extended period of time, lift, push and pull up to 75 lbs, crawl on hands and knees, climb a ladder and be able to work long hours.
- This position works outdoors year-round and therefore subject to all weather conditions sometimes to include extreme cold and heat.
Education: Minimum High School Diploma or GED equivalent, 2 year degree a plus
Experience: 4 years’ experience in Steel Industry desired
