Job Overview:

Blue Chip Talent, in partnership with an automotive technology organization, is seeking a skilled 3D Printing Lab Technician. This role is responsible for operating additive manufacturing equipment, supporting prototype part production, and performing post-processing and inspection tasks within a fast-paced engineering lab environment.

Job Duties

  • Operate and monitor additive manufacturing equipment including SLS, FDM, and SLA 3D printers

  • Prepare print jobs by loading materials, setting up builds, and ensuring machines are production-ready

  • Perform post-processing activities such as cleaning, sanding, deburring, bonding, and finishing printed components

  • Inspect and measure finished parts to verify conformance with engineering specifications

  • Maintain organized lab operations by following 5S practices and safety protocols

  • Track build progress and manage printer queues to support prototype manufacturing timelines

  • Package and prepare prototype parts for shipment and coordinate incoming lab deliveries

  • Assist with general lab maintenance and equipment upkeep

Skills & Experience

Required

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Hands-on experience using shop tools or mechanical equipment

  • Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office applications

  • Ability to read measurements and inspect manufactured components against specifications

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods

  • Experience following workplace safety procedures in a lab or manufacturing environment

Desired

  • Experience operating additive manufacturing equipment (SLS, FDM, or SLA)

  • Familiarity with prototype or low-volume manufacturing workflows

  • Experience with post-processing techniques such as sanding, surface finishing, and bonding

  • Exposure to additive manufacturing software or print preparation tools

  • Associate degree or technical certification in manufacturing, engineering technology, or related field
