Job Summary

Support multiple facilities in Alameda County, and may perform the job functions of Inventory Coordinators and Inventory Technicians when scheduled vacations, leave and /or emergency situations occur. Act as a backup.


  • Performs all duties associated with Inventory operations while working at the customer location.

  • Responsible for tasks in inventory management (Consumables, laboratory supplies etc.)

  • Accurate inventory control, processing requests leading to inventory movement on and off site and fulfilling customer metric reporting.

  • Perform inventory management related functions such as monitoring slow moving and dead inventory, conduct cycle counting, yearly physical inventories, and reporting.

  • Provide daily customer service functions and communicates with the customer relative to inventory management.

  • Works closely with management to complete projects such as Standard Operating Procedures, Scopes of Work, Training, and other assorted tasks along with direct customer interfacing relative to job functions.

  • Utilizes VWR and customer computer systems: Intranet, Ariba, SAP, proprietary software and customer specific applications.

  • Trains VWR associates on all service offerings.

  • Manages a budget related to expense reports.

  • Meets revenue, TOE, safety, performance and quality goals and objectives

  • Creates programs for enhanced service efficiencies.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The role will be required to support first and second shift, and must have own vehicle for travel between sites in Fremont and Livermore.

Travel is compensated. Will be hired as 2nd shift and thus will have a 10% shift differential added to hourly pay after hire.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training, Experience and Certifications)
High school diploma or GED required;
1-3 years experience in Inventory control/procurement/shipping and receiving
Valid Driver’s License and transportation

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those necessary to perform the job competently)
Conform to all customer requirements for background checks, health and safety issues, security clearances and medical checkups.
Strong communication and presentation skills
Knowledge of Information Access and System ESS; proficient Microsoft Office and computer skills
Excellent Customer Service Skills; displays a professional can- do attitude
Knowledge of procurement/Inventory management systems and procedures
Ability to perform duties with the highest regard for safety, quality, and site protocols/policies/procedures
Cross Referencing skills
Must be exceedingly flexible, forward- thinking, motivated, and have the ability to act independently


Typically works in an office with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.

Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems.

A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis.

Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs.
