River Valley Holdings is a family-owned distribution company based in Syracuse, NY, serving retail customers across the northeastern United States. The River Valley family of companies: River Valley Foods, Cavallaro Foods and Garden Spot Foods, distributes a wide range of specialty dry and frozen grocery items and consumable products out of warehouses in Syracuse, NY and New Holland, PA.



General Description/Purpose:

The Second Shift Warehouse Supervisor oversees outbound shipping operations, focusing on efficient and accurate order selection and loading of trucks for customer deliveries. This role requires a hands-on leader dedicated to achieving high standards in order accuracy and customer satisfaction while managing a team to meet tight deadlines and maintain efficiency and safety.

 The 2nd Shift Warehouse Supervisor reports to the VP of Operations and Technology.



ScheduleFive days a week starting at 1:30pm


Wages: $65,000 - $80,000 per year



Essential Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervise second shift warehouse personnel, including Leads, order selectors, loaders, auditors, clerks and sanitation
  • Train, coach, and motivate team members to ensure high productivity, order accuracy, and adherence to safety protocols
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, promoting teamwork, accountability and exceptional customer service in all warehouse activities
  • Oversee the order-picking process to ensure all customer orders are accurately selected, checked, and prepared for shipping
  • Address and resolve order discrepancies promptly, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Supervise the consolidation of product from other warehouse facilities and ensure they are accurately combined for delivery
  • Manage the loading of outbound trucks, ensuring orders are loaded accurately, safely, and efficiently to prevent damage during transit
  • Coordinate with the Transportation Department and third-party logistics partners to ensure adherence to schedules and customer delivery requirements
  • Monitor workflow and adjust resources as needed to meet shipping deadlines without compromising safety or accuracy
  • Enforce company policies and food safety standards, ensuring compliance with HACCP, FDA, and SQF regulations
  • Promote a culture of safety, conduct training sessions, and address safety concerns immediately to maintain a secure work environment
  • Coordinate with Customer Service, Transportation and Sales Teams to plan and execute all holiday or other special distributions of product
  • Monitor employee performance with measurable standards including selecting rates and error rates
  • Maintain excellent sanitation in the warehouse in compliance with regulations, SQF standards and company standards
  • Conduct regular performance reviews with all team members
  • Identify and mentor team leads, providing opportunities for growth and preparing them for future leadership roles

 

Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
  • 5 or more years’ experience in a Warehouse or Supply Chain role preferred
  • 3 years of supervisory experience in warehouse operations preferred
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills with a keen eye for order accuracy
  • Experience with warehouse management software (WMS) and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proven ability to mentor, train, and develop staff
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on feet for extended periods
  • Ability to work a second shift starting at 1:30PM including overtime and weekends as needed
