Roles and Responsibilities

Safety

o You are the face of behavioral safety on the floor. You must lead in a manner where safety of personnel is your number one mission and it must be evident on the floor. Never walk by an unsafe act!

o Ensure all members are trained and working in a safe manner. Continuous monitoring for unsafe acts, maintenance concerns, slip/trip/ fall concerns.

o Oversee Implementation of visual clues on the line regarding safety (hot zones, safe zones, pinch points)

o Promote culture of reporting near miss incidents to improve safety culture. Work with Director of Ops to develop process from reporting to corrective actions.

o Lead incident investigations

o Conduct safety tool boxes in Tier 2 meetings with supervisors to transfer to Tier 1 boards and meetings.

5s

o Develop and implement visual standards for 5S. Work with leads and team on adherence

o Develop and implement Good to Go sheets. Work with leads and team on adherence

o Monitor daily team accountability to the visual standards and Good to Go

o Lead team in conducting periodic 5s audits. Once implemented hand off to team leads.

Quality

o Ensure quality product being produced on lines through quality checks by cell members. Quick quality check of product on each line visit.

o Ensure process is followed for reporting and handling non-conforming product (tagged, identified, segregated)

o Participate and engage in root cause corrective action (RCCA)

Communication

o Conduct Tier 2 meeting with leads, address issues elevated from Tier 1 meeting

o Assign line responsibilities for each segment (SQDIC) of Tier 2 board

o Attend Tier 3 meeting with director of Ops (all 3 shifts)

Training

o Own training matrix for entire shift. Goal is to be 3 deep on all operations

o Periodic review of matrix with leads & director of Ops for Continuous improvement

Delivery

o Highlight production demands during Tier 2 meeting and review data with director of Ops during Tier 3 meeting

o Conduct pass-down with the oncoming supervisor. This will not be reflective of current pass down. Pass down will be metric and manning discussions, not order centric.

Costs

o Tracking of scrap, rework, uptime (earned hours) and NVA should be a major focus.

Leadership

o You are an extension of management. Conduct yourselves to that code.

o Determine manning needs at the start of each shift. Do daily touch points with all leads and operators (safety, good to go, concerns)

o Your teams have to know what is important. Managing and daily discussions regarding KPIs and performance to those KPIs are critical
