Scope:
The Shipping & Receiving Specialist is responsible for managing truck drivers as they arrive with inbound loads and truck drivers coming in for outbound loads. The Shipping & Receiving Specialist is also responsible for processing orders as they are picked as well as preparing shipping documents.
Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:
- Promotes safety and conducts him/herself in accordance with all safety guidelines at all times
- Examines contents and compares with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipment
- Prepares documents, such as bills of lading, delivery notes/packing list, and or labels
- Reviews orders to ensure inventory is accurate
- Enters shipment data into ERP system, such as weight, charges, quote numbers, pallet counts
- Manages appointments and daily schedules for outbound loads
- Updates all outbound orders with freight quotes, using various carriers’ websites
- Uses Excel spreadsheets to manage daily orders
- Prepares some international shipping documents
- Performs general office duties, such as answering the phone, filing, etc.
- Checks inbound and outbound drivers in at check in window
- Goes on to the floor as needed to help audit
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- At least 6 months of Shipping and Receiving experience or related experience preferred
- Must have ability to understand oral and written instructions in English
- Must demonstrate attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
- Must work well in a team environment
- Must be able to work overtime as required
- Must have good job performance and attendance records
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to physically perform the functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
- Must be able to work seated using a computer and phone for long periods of time
- Must be able to work extended hours, such as daily overtime and an occasional weekend
- Must possess visual acuity to document company records
- Continuous walking throughout Plant and Distribution Center
- Lifting up to 40 pounds
