GENERAL NATURE OF POSITION:
Assist in the coordination of verifying and keeping records on outgoing shipments and preparing items for shipment. Develop and maintain productive, effective, and professional relationships with peers, superiors, auditors, and others. Always represent the company in a positive and supportive manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments and shipping methods required to meet service standards and shipping schedules. Reviews outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments. Determines space requirements and position of shipment in truck trailers and lays out position of shipment. Assists with routing and legal load limits of trucks, according to established schedules and weight limits of states. Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications and follows instructions of Shipping Supervisor to seal or not seal loaded truck doors. Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel. Maintains vehicle maintenance report. Coordinates movement of staged orders to maximize shipping process flow. Compiles records of unfilled orders, posts weight and shipping charges and prepares bills of lading. Assist with studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates.
