Position Overview

The Production Supervisor is responsible for maximizing the potential of the production staff through effective assignment, prioritization of work and proper planning of product, material and tooling as well as effective training and development of staff. Identifies and implements continuous improvement opportunities and pushes for excellence in all processes. Leads by example and communicates effectively across shifts. Communicates, supports and enforces company policies and procedures. This is a working supervisor position reporting to the Director of Manufacturing Operations.

Essential Job Functions

  • The Production Supervisor assigns and prioritizes work for direct reports while coordinating with all shifts to meet production requirements.
  • The Production Supervisor trains staff on proper techniques and processes to ensure high quality production in an efficient manner, reviewing and implementing new processes/procedures as needed to ensure continuous improvement of efficiency goals.
  • Forecasts staffing needs and develops staff schedule to meet production requirements.
  • Relays job expectations to staff and coaches/disciplines when appropriate.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves all tooling and/or application issues encountered or anticipated, developing improvements to avoid duplicating issues in future.
  • Completes required reporting, data entry into ERP and processing of travelers to prepare completed product for shipment.
  • Plans appropriately to ensure product, material and tooling inventory is available to meet production requirements.
  • Works with quality department to implement and sustain quality program.
  • Ensures and enforces adherence to safety policies and procedures, with focus on improving processes to ensure zero injury culture.
  • Promotes cleanliness and organization.
  • Assists in production when required.

Experience / Education Requirements

Preferred Associate’s Degree with 3 years of leadership, experience may be commensurate.

3 plus years supervisory experience in a production work environment.

3-5 years’ work experience in a metal stamping environment required.

Skills/Abilities

Strong planning/organization & time management skills.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, utilize process and value stream. mapping, and draw valid conclusions.

Demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively and professionally with a diverse workforce.

Ability to motivate others and positively impact productivity.

Self-directed with excellent work ethic.

Strong written and verbal communication with strong attention to detail required.

Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Office required.
