Performs daily operation of a fork truck for the purpose of transporting materials throughout the facility in support of production requirements.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Valid driver’s license 
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience driving a hi-lo preferred but not required 


Skills, Knowledge and Competencies:

• Fork Truck License

• Computer skills

• Team player

• Motivated


Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate a fork truck in a safe and efficient manner

• Perform prestart-up check list

• Operate the Floor Scrubber

• Responsible for checking truck daily for lubrication, fuel, and other items as necessary for the proper maintenance of the vehicle

• May be required to load and unload materials by hand if necessary

• Required to use current methods of quality control and to participate in team projects as necessary

• Regularly scheduled follow up training and competency evaluation will take place annually and be included with an employee’s annual evaluation summary and maintained by HR in the employee records.

• Required to follow any other instructions and to perform any other duties upon request of the   supervisor

• When necessary, participate in classes and training seminars to learn new technologies and techniques deemed helpful to performance on the job

• Load and unload materials, in and out bound, onto common carriers (if required)

• Perform inventory cycle counts (if required)

• Transport, in approved containers, any and all materials

• Manually or mechanically load or unload materials from pallets, skids, lifting devices, or other transport vehicles.

• Operate dock levelers

• Stack, neatly and evenly, baskets, bins, pallets, or containers in designated areas

• Perform special assignments as required

• General Housekeeping, sweeping, mopping, trash, and other duties as assigned.

• Other duties as assigned


Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

• Works in a fast paced environment under minimum supervision.  Routine responsibilities and duties involve the use of various procedures and the application of clearly prescribed standards of practice, requiring the use of good judgment.  Must work with a high degree of accuracy.

• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. 

• Works under general supervision.  

• Major responsibilities do not typically require exercising independent judgement.  

• Detailed instructions or established procedures are usually available as guidelines for most aspects of the job.

• Ability to lift 50 pounds

• Outdoor and extreme weather conditions

• Exposure to vibration 70% of the time

• Distance vision required to drive fork truck

• Moderate exposure to noise

• Follow the Health, Safety and Environmental Program as reflected in the Health and Safety Policy Statement as well as the Environmental Management System (EMS).

• Adhere to the Quality Management System (QMS) and the Quality Policy.

• Complies with the following OSHA Safety Standards: Hazard Communication; Bloodborne Pathogens; Lockout; Permit Required Confined Space; Hot Work Permit; Powered Industrial Trucks; P.P.E. and Ergonomics
