Established commercial heat treater looking for experienced furnace operator for second shift. Job requires set up, operation, loading, unloading and monitoring of integral batch hardening and tempering furnaces. Operator ensures compliance of product to required specifications. Conduct necessary organizational housekeeping, and basic maintenance activities to maintain efficient and productive operations.
Our 2nd shift team earns a $2.00 shift incentive while working on 2nd shift.
Control Machines and processes: Use available controls to establish and maintain the appropriate equipment parameter for processing customer work. This includes: Editing heat treat programs (as permissible) when necessary, and introduction and removal of endothermic gas. Read and follow instructions given on the shop router paperwork. Follows requirements in Euclid Heat Treating’s Quality Management System. Understand written work instructions and operate machines accordingly. Perform designated tasks in the event of a power failure.
Move and handle material and build furnace loads: Find specific jobs in receiving area and move to staging area via hand carry, 2-wheeler or tow motor. Build furnace loads by filling baskets of parts, fixturing parts, wiring parts, and breaking down loads when complete. Load and unload furnaces using charge car. Put parts back in appropriate containers when breaking down loads.
Monitoring and documenting: Complete all required fields on the shop router paperwork accurately and consistently and track the orders into the floor tracking system. Identify deviations which may affect results and notify the appropriate staff member(s).
Inspection & Testing: Conduct required tests and observations to evaluate the accuracy or deviation of process results and communicate information to senior staff and/or supervisor. This includes hardness testing and case depth measurement.
Teamwork & Support: Coordinate efforts with co-workers and incoming shift personnel to achieve seamless transition of production output across shift changeovers. Provide assistance to the quality control department in the retrieval and preparation of samples, and documentation for testing and certification prior to shipment.
