Description

Position Description:

The 2nd Shift Lead is responsible for leading and supervising the 2nd Shift. This position will interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to determine the appropriate welding process, tooling and other details needed to complete jobs.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Supports the shift staff by providing input and guidance on weld, fabrication and CNC processes.
  • Assists with inspection needs as necessary.
  • Ensure the safety and productivity of all employees.
  • Ensure employees stay on task and are meeting expectations.
  • Enable effective communication between management and operators.
  • Train new employees and coach existing employees.
  • Responsible for the safety and security of the entire AFKS facility, including all employees on staff during assigned hours.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Enforce efficient and proper use of company provided tools and consumables.
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to the role and level of responsibility of position.

Qualifications


Qualifications:

  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and product specifications.
  • Must possess high organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and establish effective work priorities in a fast paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Must possess some technical aptitude to help troubleshoot process or equipment issues on a limited basis.

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

  • Basic math skills with ability to read tape measure.
  • Ability to read blueprints with knowledge of welding symbols.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Experience with applicable fabrication equipment required.
  • Or any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach, and move about the facility.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, bending, squatting, and twisting.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds independently.
  • Exposure to shop environment.

Other:

  • Working more than 40 hours per week may be required on a frequent basis in order to complete company deliverables.
  • CPR/First Aid training desired.
