Job Objective:
Apply a high level of electrical knowledge and expertise in a team environment while providing a customer service approach to a functional maintenance role.
***This is a represented position with the USW Local 4959 union.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- A high degree of experience in troubleshooting various types of electrical circuits.
- Strong working knowledge of DC systems (24 to 125 VDC).
- Strong working knowledge of AC systems from 120v to 15 KV.
- Experience reading electrical drawings and schematics used in troubleshooting and basic maintenance.
- Experience switching, racking and maintaining circuit breakers from 120v to 15KV
- Ability to troubleshoot and maintain UPS systems.
- Ability to become familiar with back-up power generation and outage response
- Ability to learn and become qualified in the use of infra-red thermography
- Ability to become familiar with various types of electrical protection and their purpose
- Comfortable working at heights. Ladders scaffold and manlifts
- Adheres to established work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings.
- Ability to support and work well within a team concept as well as work alone if required.
- Willingness to take direction from front line supervision.

Qualifications:
- Three (3) years minimum experience required in electrical maintenance. Oil and gas field experience preferred.
- Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time.
- Ability to effectively communicate.
- Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
- Ability to be available 24 hours per day (on call for questions, emergencies, etc.).
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, and the public.
- Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities.
- Comfortable with troubleshooting motors, control circuits and various types of electrical devices.
- Experience reading all types of electrical drawings used in electrical maintenance.
- Strong working knowledge of DC systems (batteries and battery charging systems from 24 to 125 VDC).
- Strong working knowledge of UPS systems with the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot .
- Strong working Knowledge of AC systems from 120v to 15 KV. (Breakers, switchgear, control devices)
- Able to switch breakers to maintain power distribution and back up power generation.
- Ability to scale heights, ladders scaffold and manlifts.
Education Requirements:
- Work requires an educational background normally acquired through a high school education with course work in skilled crafts, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
- Have the ability to obtain special training on job specific tasks as needed
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
- Current Drivers license issued in United States
- Required: Alaska Electrical Journeyman’s license (Alaska Electrical Journeyman’s Certification of Fitness)
