Canon, U. S. A., Inc. is currently hiring for our 2022 Canon Insights Internship Program.   Getting real world experience prior to graduation is invaluable in determining career goals and aspirations.  Students who attain actual work experience through the internship program have an advantage, as they begin their future job search.  As an Intern at Canon U.S.A., you will be exposed to business, marketing and strategy initiatives.  You will be involved in projects that help you learn, develop business skills, and provide a meaningful contribution to Canon's business and goals.  The Canon Insights Internship Program will give you access to various business units within Canon, as well as our key leaders.  

Responsibilities

2022 Canon Insights Summer Internship - Research and Development Intern II (Irvine, CA)   This program is designed to provide students with an opportunity to gain hands-on work experience by participating in significant work projects, training, meetings, presentations and activities.   Responsibilities:   Carry out research and development in one or more of the following areas: - Computer Vision Applications - 3D computer vision and modeling - Real-time vision applications - Generative Adversarial Networks - Neural Radiance Field Models - Virtual and Augmented Reality - Image time-series analysis - Lighting condition analysis - Photogrammetry and/or optical reflectance models - Image and video analysis and understanding - Anomaly Detection - Machine learning including state of the art deep learning applications - Contribute to Canon’s intellectual property portfolio - Work with research team on investigations, software products, and software prototypes  

Qualifications

To succeed in the Insights Program, you must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong computer skills including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. We also require candidates to be enrolled in a related major in the department of interest and have some former work or internship experience.   Qualifications: - Graduate student pursuing Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. - Strong mathematical background and ability to apply it to new problems - Strong written and oral communication skills - Working experience in C/C++, Python, and/or Matlab - Experience with libraries such as OpenCV, libgphoto, keras/tensorflow, PyTorch - Strong research capabilities - The ability to work in a highly collaborative, fast moving, multi-cultural environment - Experience working in an Agile environment is desired - Experience with software development for imaging devices is a plus

Hybrid - This position is full time and offers a hybrid work schedule requiring you to be in the office two company designated days a week and an option to work from home the remainder of the week (unless a specific business need arises requiring in office attendance on other days).
