Job Description

QA Receiving Tech

Job Purpose/Summary:

Responsible for checking all incoming raw materials (packaging and ingredients) for food safety requirements and quality compliance per the materials’ specifications.

Plans and conducts activities concerned with the quality assurance of industrial processes, materials, and products by performing the following duties.

  • Support QA leadership in all areas
  • Inspects incoming raw materials (packaging and ingredient materials) for food safety and conformance to material specifications between 4 warehouse locations
  • Check and record raw material date code information based on specifications
  • Record & document information necessary for trace-recall of raw materials
  • Record all weights necessary to meet raw material product specifications
  • Record all checks with supporting documents to assure all critical criteria has been met
  • Monitor Company GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices)
  • Gather all samples (as required) for Micro analysis
  • Monitor disposals and damage of raw materials
  • Responsible for placing materials on hold that are nonconforming for quality and/or food safety
  • Responsible for managing time and taking breaks without relief
  • Document accurate paperwork and checks as required
  • Maintain adherence to company policies, safety standards and good manufacturing practices
  • Must wear required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as provided
  • Perform other duties as required or directed
  • Cross training in other areas required within the department

The Ideal Candidate will have the Following Qualifications


The employee must be able to work in a cold (40-50 degree) warehouse environment, standing all the shift

Ability to perform basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, averages)

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Detail oriented

Ability to function in and foster a team oriented work environment

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook required

Ability to utilize training, education, and support materials effectively

Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include weekends and holidays depending on demands

Ability to work with enthusiasm and sense of urgency daily

The work environment requires the use of protective equipment relating to food safety and personal safety such as, but not limited to, sterilized uniform overcoat/smock, facial hair nets, safety glasses and ear plugs.  Exposure to significant fluctuations of temperatures from various locations work is performed.
