Description
Anchor Fabrication has an immediate opening for a highly motivated Materials Lead for our shipping department.
Position Summary:
The Materials Lead operates industrial trucks or related equipment to move products, materials or equipment, meeting or exceeding customer specs and productivity requirements. They are highly motivated and have a desire to work in a fast paced, quality centered environment. This role is vital to ensuring our customers’ needs are consistently met, promoting our company’s continued strong national growth.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the receiving, movement, and storing of product
- Manage inventory locations of raw, component and WIP
- Drive inventory transaction accuracy
- Transactions to and from bin locations (Goal is 95% accuracy)
- Jobs are kitted/checked in correctly
- Ensures weld kitting efforts meet full kit targets daily
- Goal is 2 days in front of welding (Per resource)
- Cycle count activities (Counting)
- Involved with counting manufactured/purchased components (Goal is 95% accuracy)
- End of year inventory
- Communicate with manufacturing personnel, the purchasing department, and other Supervisors on material status (shortages, discrepancies, roadblocks)
- Participate in 8D and other root cause and corrective analysis for inventory errors.
- Help lead kaizen events such as 6s and other continuous improvements.
- Filing out 6s daily checklist (keeps area orderly)
- Be involved/lead a 6s event initiatives.
- Develop and implement standard practices to improve inventory control and material movement.
- This accomplishes an accurate inventory to meet production needs and in return a more efficient and effective kitting process.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Forklift experience (2 years minimum)
- Shipping/receiving experience (1 year minimum)
- Previous experience working as a Lead overseeing 10-20 employees preferred.
- Inventory experience
- Ability to read a tape measure and use basic math skills
- Uses proper PPE and follows all safety procedures.
- Basic computer skills
Environment/Physical Requirements with or without Accommodation:
This position is carried out in a fabrication shop environment and as such has the following physical work requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 100lbs.
- Position requires the ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Position may require bending, kneeling, and stooping.
- Exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors, and chemicals.
