This individual would play the important role of performing maintenance activities through the implementation of a preventative maintenance program as well as the continuation of ongoing maintenance repair for the facility and various packaging and processing equipment. The right candidate would have the knowledge and ability to effectively and efficiently troubleshoot, repair, install and maintain production, manufacturing, and building and support equipment.

- ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Understand and interpret written and oral instructions, comprehend and make inferences from written material, read and interpret blue prints.
- Complete work orders in an accurate and timely manner.
- Responsible for all machine maintenance with safety and functionality as a focus.
- Identifies machine parts needed for repair or stocking and informs Maintenance Purchasing.
- Perform work from an Arial platform scissors or boom lift in a safe, effective and efficient manner.
- Identify and report problems and possible solutions regarding the efficiency and functionality of production assets.
- Assist electricians when necessary with the mechanical aspects of the job.
- Understand and comply with all lockout/tag out procedures.
- Must work in a safe and ethical manner at all times.
- Implement effective maintenance procedures to ensure that all equipment, facilities, and utilities are in an acceptable state of mechanical repair.
- Perform maintenance projects to ensure that safety and quality standards are met or exceeded. Assure that machine guards are in place when machines are operating. Fabricate and position machine guards where necessary to protect operators and by-standers.
- Assist with machine changeovers.
- Provide technical knowledge and expertise to solve problems of a mechanical or hydraulic/pneumatic nature. Perform electrical work, if qualified. Determine when to call in outside experts to provide maintenance assistance. Contact and schedule such assistance, as necessary.
- Be proactive in maintaining good housekeeping for the manufacturing facility, grounds and administrative offices.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: MANUFACTURING SAFETY
- A minimum of a HS diploma or GED is required.
- Related mechanical maintenance experience required.
- Able to understand written and spoken English.
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills required.
- Good organizational & planning skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated Math Skills.
- Knowledge of machine teardown and rebuild procedures preferred.
- Always wear personal protection equipment (PPE) - proper safety eyewear, proper steel-toed shoes and proper hearing protection.
- Report all safety concerns and/or accidents, first aid representative immediately no matter how minor.
- Inspect the work area at the start of your shift and during your shift to see that required safety equipment is in place and operational.
- Maintain a safe work environment
- Understand and follow the Safety rules, policies and procedures that have been defined for the area and equipment.
- Understand and follow the proper procedure for handling any chemicals in the area and hazardous materials.
